It’s so easy for us to judge someone from the outside. It’s so easy to say, “she’s so holy” or he’s so this and he’s so that. It’s so easy to get caught up on what everyone else is doing and fail to take time to step back and focus on the things that we’re struggling with when it comes to our walk with God.
We spend so much time judging one another and looking at what everyone else is doing instead of keeping our eyes on Christ and on the work that He’s trying to do within us. But the more we look at others, He is unable to make a change in us because when we judge people, we impute judgement upon ourselves.
People get saved and they think that’s the end of the road. They think that they don’t have to do any work! That they don’t have to work out their salvation! We must gradually be transformed to look like the new creation that we are in Christ. We have to wake up. Faith without works is dead (James 2:14-26). The bible says to work out your OWN salvation with fear and trembling (Philippians 2:12)! It even says that “you will know them by their fruit” (Mathew 7:16).
And yes, transformation takes time! Be there should be at least a little hint that you are changing and beginning to reflect the King! Our power comes from possessing Him within us and looking like Him so much that the world is drawn to us and drawn to our light! When was the last time you developed a new fruit? Or are you still bearing the same fruit you’ve been bearing for the past three years?
The bible says “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Gal. 5:22) The more you stay rooted in Christ, the more you grow and the more you continue to work out your salvation, more fruits should be popping up on your tree!
God isn’t looking for how fast you can grow! He just cares that you are really making a serious and conscious effort to submit to Him daily and let Him change you! If your growth has been stunted, your eyes are in the wrong direction! Keep your eyes on Christ and you will not drown!
“YOU THINK YOU KNOW BUT YOU HAVE NO IDEA!”
You think that chick is holy and has such a strong relationship with God because she doesn’t smoke, drink, or go to the club. Guess what, behind closed doors she has non-stop thoughts about fornicating with men. She puts Facebook before God as well as all her friendships and relationships so she commits idolatry. She’s more interested in pleasing men than chasing God’s own heart.
Parts of that girl I described was once me and behind closed doors there are still things that I struggle with. Nobody is perfect. No matter how good they look in the lime light their life can be pitch dark backstage. Power comes and love of God is perfected in us when we keep his commandments, not only when the world is watching but when nobody’s there. When no body can read your thoughts, when nobody sees you… when nobody knows.
Jesus even says things in the bible like, “Be careful not to do your ‘acts of righteousness’ before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.” -Mathew 6:1
“But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.”- Mathew 6:6
“But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” Mathew 6:3-4
“And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. ” Mathew 6:5-15
If you could love God and be faithful to Him in those moments in your life, your very being will be so much more powerful! Transparency is a light that shines so much brighter than that of popularity. Front and center stage is not the light that God is looking for from you. God is looking for you to be an example! He is looking for you to live a life that draws people like flies to His Kingdom. He is looking for you to do His will and reconcile the lost.
“Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, is spirit, in faith, in purity.” (I Timothy 4:12)”.
Where is your heart at? Is your heart on the people? Is your heart looking at the next person saying, “man I wish my relationship with God was just as strong as theirs” or is you heart saying “I want everyone to think I have a wonderful relationship with God?? Get your eyes focused on Christ and off everyone else! Live in peace and be free!
